    Summary

Motus Handling designed and delivered custom Crane Systems and related equipment for two automated storage areas in a frozen food environment. The project combined demanding requirements for low-temperature operation, speed, limited space because of strict building constraints.

    Challenge

The equipment had to operate reliably at temperatures down to -25°C.

Space inside the building was extremely limited, so every centimetre of available area had to be used efficiently.

The existing floor could not carry the full load of the products and machinery.

Warehouse 1 had to handle pallets weighing up to 1,250 kg.

High operating speed was essential to support the required throughput.

Continuity of production was required also during maintenance time of the equipment

Pallets had to be placed as low as 500 mm. required deep storage up to 1.5 metres.

    Solution

Motus Handling engineered the Crane Systems and related equipment for reliable operation in a deep-freeze environment, selecting components and materials suited for low-temperature use.

The equipment layout was designed to support maximum storage capacity by positioning the Crane Systems and related equipment as close as possible to the building structure, respecting tight tolerances.

To compensate for the limited floor load capacity, an additional steel support structure was installed underneath the delivered equipment.

Where needed two cranes were installed to provide the required capacity and reliability.

For warehouse 1, cranes were designed for operating speeds up to 120 m/min.

To load pallets at a restricted height of 500 mm, a large part of the machinery was recessed into the floor.

Telescopic forks were used to reach the required storage depth with precision.

    Result

The delivered Crane Systems and related equipment support faster, more reliable and food-safe handling within the customer’s automated storage areas.

Motus Handling supplied equipment that matched both the customer’s operational requirements and the physical constraints of the building. The project demonstrates Motus Handling’s ability to solve complex warehouse automation challenges where standard crane solutions are not sufficient
