Automated warehouse and inbound/outbound flow
-
Customer
TE Connectivity Oostkamp develops and manufactures electromechanical components for the automotive industry.
-
Challenge
TE Connectivity operates a continuous production environment where machine downtime must be kept to an absolute minimum. To balance uninterrupted production with fluctuating customer demand, the company required a buffer warehouse capable of supporting a constant material flow.
The new automated warehouse had to meet several key requirements:
- Maximize storage capacity within the available floor space.
- Accommodate building constraints such as walls, pipes, and existing infrastructure.
- Handle multiple box sizes (600 × 400 mm, 400 × 300 mm, and 600 × 600 mm).
- Integrate seamlessly with the existing WMS.
- Support a continuous inflow of goods from production without interruptions.
-
Solution
Working closely with TE Connectivity, Motus Handling designed and built a fully automated buffer warehouse that manages the complete logistics process, from inbound box handling to pallet loading based on requirements from the customer's ERP system.
The solution includes:
- Automated box storage and retrieval.
- Automatic empty pallet distribution.
- Selective retrieval of individual boxes from storage.
- Seamless integration with the customer's WMS and ERP systems.
- Continuous support of the production flow without disruption.
